Statement on Suez Canal Blockage – March 2021

As you may have seen on the news, the Suez canal has been blocked by the container ship Evergiven.  Whilst the blockage has now been resolved, delays to containers arriving in the UK continue are still continuing.

This situation is affecting furniture deliveries for all retailers and unfortunately, like IKEA and many others, Rattan and Teak is not immune from the problem.  We source many of our products from countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam and the Suez canal is the major supply route to the UK.  We currently have goods in approximately 10 containers that have been affected by the situation, with more being delayed further back in the supply chain.

As a consequence, our delivery service is likely to take longer than usual.

Until we have a clearer picture of the impact of these delays, we will not be able to provide firm dates on when we will be able to deliver some customer orders.  Please accept our apologies.

Once the situation is resolved and the containers arrive with us we will do our best to get products delivered as quickly as possible.  We have increased the size of our delivery team and will be using third party couriers and pallet delivery services to ensure we deliver customer orders as quickly as we can.

We understand the frustration and disappointment that delivery delays can bring to our customers, but we hope you will understand that this situation is unprecedented and out of our control.

From all the team at Rattan And Teak we would like to thank you for your understanding, co-operation and continued support.
