The beauty of reclaimed teak
Both the large table and the pair of backless benches have been carefully manufactured from reclaimed teak which has been hand-finished with a black wash that accentuates the beauty of the timber’s natural grain and gives the wood added protection from the elements.
Having been pre-weathered, the teak is robust and durable and brings with it many beneficial natural qualities. The teak’s high oil content and natural density mean that it is water resistant and resistant to damage from chemicals, fire and insects so it is perfect for year-round use outdoors. With time, the teak will fade to a beautiful silvery grey, but if you prefer the original golden colour, then simply wash it down with soapy water to return it to its darker shade.
There are no cheap screws holding this Sampson Reclaimed Teak Large Garden Table Backless Bench Set together so it won’t develop any of those annoying wobbles that cheaper furniture can. Instead, this quality set has been expertly finished with hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, reinforced with teak dowels to enhance the table’s strength and durability.
This is a table that is built to withstand regular, long-term use and so is suitable for commercial as well as domestic settings.
At 2m long, the table will seat up to 8 or more people at any one time.

Everything you should know about reclaimed and sustainable wood furniture
Reclaimed teak, by its very nature, is pre-used timber. So if you are looking for that perfect, uniform look that comes from factory made and new timber, then this furniture will not be for you. Reclaimed teak furniture is made from timber that has had a former life, and in turning it into something new and wonderful, the furniture makers do not need to cut down any more trees, which means the furniture really is better for the environment. However, pre-used timber clearly comes with the marks and the imperfections of its former life, which give your furniture character and individuality. There will be inconsistencies in the grain and sometimes the furniture makers will have used a skilled craft technique called ‘patching’ which involves insetting small pieces of additional reclaimed teak into the timber, to patch it and make a smooth, even, practical and long lasting surface This is a characteristic of all reclaimed furniture and simply adds to its bespoke, eye catching nature.
